The LGBT community in Mumbai is diverse and multi-faceted. Over the last 17 years, Gaybombay has been a canvas on which you all have shown your true colours. Our annual GB Special Sunday Queer Art Workshop is about celebrate your individual distinct journey as well our shared journey as LGBTs. So how would you like to express *your* gayness through art? Potential subjects are manifold: coming out, freedom, relationships, same-sex marriage, adoption, 377, Pride – but also harassment, blackmail, double lives and criminalization have been important parts and milestones of many of our lives.
Paper, paints, brushes, crayons, pencils, erasers, sketch pens, markers, glitter, old magazines to make cuttings for collages, glue-sticks – we will provide you with all these and more. What you have to do: sit down before a fresh crisp drawing sheet and spend 3 hours letting your creativity blossom. Express yourself any which way you want to! Joy, fun, camp, separation, pain, longing… let it all out on paper. And don’t worry – you don’t have to be a Picasso and produce something worthy of the galleries – this is just an opportunity to discover the inner child in you and for us to bond through art.
Snacks and tea will be served. All rules connected with a GB Meet apply. A humble request: the workshop is at an organizing member’s private home, so please let us respect this generous offer of space by conducting ourselves with appropriately.
